“Wake Up, Sheeple!” Updates- April

Hello to the very earliest collaborators, play testers, backers and fans.

If you’re reading this, thank you for being a part of launching “Wake Up, Sheeple”. I’m pretty excited about the concept behind the game, and the initial receptions have been very positive. I’m excited to work with all of you to bring the experience to as wide of an audience as possible.

Here’s where the project is at so far:

Visuals

You’ve probably noticed we’re sparse on images, and that is because we are still working on finalizing the designs. We are working on something pretty special in that area, but for now the game logo and general motifs are all we can share.

But, i did make a Pinterest page to help with some of the things we are working on, though, so I can show you that:


Getting the Game Made

The prototypes for the initial playtests were all hand printed, and most of the first editions were made personally by me. This allowed us to make quick changes to the rules and core gameplay, but lacked the refinement and picture-worthiness of the final game. To that end, there is a prototype version of the game on The Game Crafter.

We are also working with manufacturers to design and quote a bulk order product. Because The Game Crafter specializes in single/small orders, the final cost of the game would be minimum $40 and up to $60 for each copy. I am trying to get the final non-sale price to be around $30, but that’s only possible with hundreds of preorders

So, we are planning on launching a Kickstarter and starting our email list NOW, so that we have the best possible chance of getting the game made affordably. We are aiming for October launch, but we’ll see what happens. If the Kickstarter campaign fails, then the game will probably be made public on TGC, but it will cost way more.

So, That’s where we are now. It’s still early, so the best thing you can do is watch this space and express your interest.
